Hip Hop genre music video's displays features of money, girls, drugs and power. The genre is typically dominated by African American males.
In my choice of video, ‘Shook Ones Part II’ the style of video is interpretive as the lyrics can occasionally be matched to what we see on the screen which allows us to interpret the lyrics in a sense of truth about the rappers lifestyle.
The institution would use these conventions to connote the typical dominant gangster role of the rapper. This gives us the idea that they have had a rough upbringing and have had to earn their money ‘the hard way’ which in actual fact just means selling drugs and robbing people.
The audience to hip hop usually either respects this idea or respects the rapper for their quality of music and style.
